据《科学》新闻（Science News），包括张锋、庄小威等华人院士在内的美国国家科学院、工程院和医学院的 1900 余名院士曾联名签署公开信，呼吁特朗普政府停止打击科学界。美国三院院士共 8000 余人，因此联名院士已占总院士数近 1/4。
